Importing from China

 

 

The majority of our customers come to us with little or no previous importing experience. We help with all areas from explaining Incoterms (we normally supply on CIF or FOB terms) to assisting in getting the products to your door.

 

Customs and Duty

Before the development work is done in China you should check there are no restrictions (quotas) or other factors that might prevent the import of goods. Providing there are not, it is necessary to obtain a Commodity Code. Container Shipping

It is not necessary to buy full shipping containers from China. The majority of our customers order smaller quantities, and although there are benefits to buying a full 20’ or 40’ container load, the increased costs associated with the lower quantities are marginal, and factors such as size and value can help determine optimal order quantities.

 

Containers take about 28 days from China to the UK with the majority of goods arriving at Felixstowe. We will organise transportation in China to get your goods into a container and to a UK port. Upon arrival, customers need to use a freight forwarding company to clear customs and organise delivery to them. We can recommend a reliable company, if required.

 

Air Shipping

Although the cost is high, having an air option is essential when the shipping lead time is too long, and can suit lower volume high value goods. We import many goods by air, and there are many price options that are linked to direct or indirect service. The majority of goods arrive at Heathrow. Again, we can recommend a reliable company, if needed.

 

Shipping Documents

We offer a full document management service and can work with your chosen freight forwarder to supply them all the information they need. You are supplied full copies for your records.

 

OPS

We provide a secure Online Planning Service (OPS) which is updated as soon as we are aware of any changes and gives you information on issues as they arise.
